17 Top Tips For Great Holiday Hair
by: Skye Irwin
When you are away from home in a different climate your hair will be subjected to weather it
is not used to.
Your hair needs to be protected in the same way that you do with your skin. UV rays are very
harmful to your hair affecting the pigment, strength, shine and vitality.
For your skin you take with you cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen and after-sun lotions so for
your hair take shampoo, conditioner, hair sunscreen and styling products.
Cold Climate
1. Cold temperatures weaken your hair and susceptible to damage. Flyaway hair tends to be subject
to static. Hair should be well conditioned and protected by wearing a hat.
2. If you have frizzy hair use a leave-in conditioner and take a deep moisturizing mask with you
on holiday. All hair types will benefit from using a heat protection spray and serum to keep the
elements out and keep the moisture in.
Humid climate
3. Hair expands just like it does when it is wet in a humid climate. This will make your hair
fluffy or if it is curly, frizzy.
4. For all hair types, a pre-holiday deep conditioning treatment is a must to nourish the hair
and seal the cuticles, as you want to prevent excess moisture from entering the hair shaft.
5. If you have fine hair use a light leave-in conditioner from mid-way down the hair to the ends
and use a serum to seal the ends after blow-drying, being careful not to overdo the serum on fine
hair.
6. If you have curly and/or frizzy hair then you need to seal the cuticle (the outside of your
hair) to minimize the additional frizziness that results in humid weather.
7. Use a leave-in conditioner very morning. Use an anti-frizz serum to coat and seal the cuticle.
Hot and dry climate
8. The sun strips the hair of its natural oils and dry heat increases this effect. UV rays attack
your hair and the resulting free radicals damage the hair. The weakened cuticle causes the hair
to become dehydrated, allows the bleaching and fading of the color pigment as well as split ends.
9. To protect your hair 100.rom sun damage wear a hat!
10. Deep conditioning your hair before your holiday is essential.

conditioner with UV protection. Use a sun-protection spray containing a UV filter to screen your
hair from the effects of the sun and seawater and re-apply after going in the sea.

dryness. Apply a nourishing hair mask whilst you are away to deep condition your hair. Use a
sun-protection spray containing a UV filter to screen your hair from the effects of the sun and
seawater and re-apply after going in the sea.
13. If you have frizzy hair use a sun-protection spray containing a UV filter to screen your hair
from the effects of the sun and seawater and re-apply after going in the sea.Use a rich leave-in
conditioner with UV protection each morning and apply a hair mask every other day during the
holiday.
14. When you have been swimming in the sea always wash the salt out afterwards.

sun, wet your hair in the shower before hand and protect your hair with a leave-in conditioner

Choose The Right Hair Product For You - Or Pay The Price
by: Michael Barrows
Choosing the right hair product for your particular hair style and texture can be confusing,
especially with all of the hair care product advertisements we are bombarded with on a daily
basis. With each commercial, each glossy ad, and each retail display case, companies do their
best to convince us that their hair product has just what it takes to take our Medusa locks and
turn them into tresses fit for the runway. But can they really do all that they promise? And how
do you know which ones are worth investing in and which ones belong in the recycling bin?
Granted, hair products can do wonders when it comes to making your do look the best that it can.
But you need to choose the right products or you else you may find yourself rinsing your money
right down the drain with your latest expensive hair care product.
Must have hair products
Depending on your hair type, there are several hair products that are essential for everyone.
First, you need a good shampoo that is tailored to your specific hair type. While you don't have
to spend a lot of money here, make sure to choose a hair product that contains no waxy
substances. Waxy substances are used in many of the over-counter hair care products on the market
today. If you are unsure which ones contain wax, stick with a professional shampoo. Truly
professional shampoos can be found in salons only.
Next, you will need a professional conditioning hair product. If you need to cut costs by
purchasing an over-the-counter hair care product, do it with the shampoo, not with your
conditioner. Yes, you may spend a few extra dollars, but your hair will thank you for it. Make
sure that your conditioner is tailored to your specific hair type. For example: If you have
chemically damaged hair, choose a hair product that repairs and strengthens damaged hair.
Lastly, you will need various styling hair products. The ones you choose will depend largely on
your style. A good rule of thumb to follow is this: use mousse for light, carefree and blow-dried
styles; gel for curly and wet-looking styles; and pomade for textured, funky and spiked styles. A
hair spray with the desired hold should be used to finish off each style.
Expensive verses inexpensive hair care products
I'm a firm believer in that you get what you pay for, but that line seems to get blurred when
dealing with professional hair products. Most people believe that when they buy hair products
from salons that they are going to end up paying a great deal of money for something that they
can pick up in the corner drug store for half the price. But this is not the case.
The main differences between professional and non-professional hair care products are in the
quality of the products, not the pricing. I have seen high-quality professional hair products
sell for as little as $5 a bottle, the same price that you would pay for many non-professional
products. So, you can get a great deal on professional products. The bottom line is that no
matter what the price, professional is better.
Now, are high-priced professional hair products better than the inexpensive ones? The answer is
surprisingly no. While some professional lines may have individual products that are perfect for
your hair and well worth the high price tag, most professional hair care product lines, even the
inexpensive ones, have everything that you would ever need to make your hair gorgeous.
So, stop looking at the price tag and glamorous ads and start looking at the back of the bottle
to find out what hair products are perfect for you. And if in doubt, ask your stylist.
Female Hair Loss: Finding A Hair Loss Solution
by: Kathlene Capelle
As a female, if you are facing thinning and losing hair, you are probably pretty stressed by
it. However, you will not be worrying and causing more hair to drop once you understand some
facts about female hair loss. You see, in many cases, female hair loss is just a temporary
occurance and hence, finding a hair loss solution to it is relatively easy.
Androgenetic alopecia is the hereditary form of baldness that affects 50 percent of men, and some
women after 40. Female hair loss usually starts after menopause although it can begin earlier.
The main reason for this is that estrogen levels decline. Hormonal changes cause hair to thin.
It is comforting to note that other than androgenetic alopecia, the most common cause of hair
loss in women, is a result of metabolic and hormonal changes. Thus, the hair loss is usually
temporary. Also, unlike men, women rarely become totally bald. However, what females generally
experience is the thinning of their hair.
For example, in the case of pregnancy, hair loss is temporary and should stop about 6 months
after birth. When a woman is pregnant, a large amount of oestrogen is produced causing the hair
follicles to go into their growth phase. Once the baby is born, the woman’s hormonal balance is
restored. The reverse now happens with the hair follicles going into a hair loss phase.
While nothing much can be done to prevent hair loss during this period, applying hair tonic to
hasten hair re-growth can be a helpful solution.
Crash diets leading to rapid weight loss over a short period of time prompts excessive hair loss.
Physical and emotional stress can cause hair loss but this usually only occurs after a prolonged
period of time and in extreme cases. Once stress levels are restored to normal levels, hair loss
should stop. Thus, a good hair loss solution is to find ways to reduce stress!
Certain drugs can also cause hair to shed. The most common medical treatment that causes hair
loss is chemotherapy. The drug medication attacks the hair cells, causing hair loss from the
scalp. Certain prescription drugs (for thyroid hormone deficiency, diabetes and lupus) and
dieting supplements are also causes of hair loss. Once these drug medications are stopped, the
hair loss problem should disappear.
Other stresses to the hair may include frequent dyeing and chemicals eg. perming solutions
applied to the hair. Generally, healthy hair can undergo these treatments without showing signs
of stress, if they are not done too often. But if hair is not allowed a chance to recover from
the constant application of hair chemicals, then it becomes brittle and starts to break off. Hair
loss treatment products to help strengthen the follicles should help when applied to the scalp.
Once you understand what is happening to your hair, then seek out the right hair loss solution.
In most cases, if the cause is temporary, then you can be assured that your problem will pass
with the right remedy actions. However, for the more serious cases, do seek the professional help
of a licensed dermatologist for a complete diagnosis and treatment plan.
